WordPress Themes

Below is a list of premium WordPress themes I have experience working with, followed by a list of common theme-related task requests. Many of these themes I actively manage and support across multiple client websites.

WordPress Theme Experience

Premium, Licensed WordPress Themes

Some development teams and businesses sell licenses for the WordPress themes they develop allowing for commercial use. Although every premium theme is different the benefits of opting to use one tend to include:

  • reduced website development and setup costs and timelines when compared against development of a custom WordPress theme
  • complex and feature rich theme options which typically allow for ease of customization of certain theme layout, design, and functionality features
  • professionally designed initial content demos which can be loaded and customized to suit a client’s unique brand
  • unlike a custom developed theme, other license holders are using the premium theme and may report issues or bugs to the development team allowing for them to be fixed before they become a problem for other users
  • purchasing a theme license typically entitles the purchaser access to future software updates for the theme at no additional cost

My Experience: I’ve worked with many popular premium WordPress theme’s over the last 10+ years.

The Total theme, developed by WPExplorer, is an exceedingly flexible and well documented solution for WordPress websites of all types across many sectors and use cases. I’ve utilized this theme for a wide array of projects ranging from one-page layouts to large, multi-faceted content portals and eCommerce solutions.

WordPress theme update management and staged rollout

One aspect of my WordPress management services is to apply theme updates. Although updating is typically a non-issue, it’s always a good idea to have a current backup, and to initially apply and test the theme updates in a staging or development environment prior to rolling them out to the production website or server. WordPress theme and software updates are performed either weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly.

Creation of child theme for purposes of maintaining and updating parent theme files

I’m routinely contacted by WordPress website owners whose previous web developer or designer was not aware they should make the customizations to the website in a child theme, as opposed to altering the parent theme directly. By utilizing a child theme to store modifications the parent theme is free from alteration and can be updated to a newly released version without concern for it removing the committed changes.

If customizations have been made to your parent theme, I can port them over to a child theme and apply the parent theme update. This work would be performed in a separate hosting environment from your live website, allowing us to keep your website online throughout the process.

Modification of existing, or development of new, theme templates

We can have a meeting and you can tell me what you need, or you could send the information, along with any design files and color requirements, in an email. I work with the Adobe design suite to perform PSD to HTML / WordPress theme and theme template conversions. These services are revision based, allowing you to make changes and modifications as we work.

WordPress Theme Selection Consultation

I’m sometimes tasked with helping my clients select a new WordPress theme for a website. I begin by collecting a feature requirement list. Next, I request examples of website designs which my client would like to emulate, along with examples of what should be avoided. Using this information I search for potential theme solutions with the aim of presenting them to the team with a pros and cons list along with any other details or pertinent information.
