I’d like to thank you for visiting my website and taking the time to read about me, Rick D’Haene (pronounced Dane). My goal here is to share a bit about myself from a personal and professional perspective—a bit of an informal ice breaker, if you will.
I live in Bellingham Washington (Pacific Timezone) with my wife, Melissa, and our ever-changing horde of pets and foster animals. Our proximity to both Seattle and Vancouver BC makes for great day-trip opportunities to Seattle’s Pike Place Market, Granville Island to the North, or one of myriad local stops, shops, and sights.
Living in this area with access to mountain hiking trails laden with beautiful vistas, as well as both fresh- and salt-waterways for kayaking, has lead to quite a few outdoor hobbies and activities.
- Hiking, walking along beaches, ferry rides to the San Juan islands
- Observing and identifying wildlife
- Trail running
- Kayaking the in-land lakes and San Juan waterways
- Snorkeling, body boarding, and rafting (wetsuit recommended)
- Camping with friends and family
- Snowboarding
- Day tripping
- Visiting Mount St. Helens
When not out and about experiencing nature I can typically be found enjoying one of my hobbies:
- Aquatics: I keep Freshwater aquariums w/ freshwater dwarf shrimp, Blue Star Endlers, and some Corys
- 3D Printing (I have an Creality Ender 5 FDM printer)
- Working with hobby electronics, such as Arduino, RC, and lighting / DC motors, stepper motors, and servos
- Cooking and baking new and interesting recipes
- I enjoy finding and trying new and interesting fruits from around the world: Starfruit, Pitaya, Rambutan, Jackfruit, Cherimoya, Kiwano, Passion Fruit, Mulberries, Kimquat, Salmonberry, Honeyberry, Thimbleberries, and over 25+ different varieties of modern, heritage, and cider apples and 15+ different varieties of pear
- Developing my handyman “skills” around the house
It’s fun working with clients who share similar interests, so please feel free to engage me in discussion regarding any of the above listed interests or hobbies.
It’s my hope that you continue to have a wonderful day. And, in the case that you aren’t, I hope you’re able to take a few moments to cheer yourself up by thinking about the people or things which make you happy.
— Rick
