WordPress Plugin Under Development: RD Private Post Notes
Plugin Name: RD Private Post Notes
Description: Adds an additional content editor to all detected post types which allows users to write and store private, post specific notes. Notes can be assigned to a WordPress user account, and given a status: Complete, Ready for Review, In Process, or Needs Action. A Post Notes page linked to under the Posts menu within the WordPress dashboard loads a table showing the status
Developed by: Rick D’Haene
But what does it do?:
This plugin adds a few fields and an additional, private content editor to the WordPress editor page. The content entered into this secondary editor is kept private, and not published along with the post. This makes it the perfect place to collaborate on the post or page in question.
In addition to the private content editor, a Note Status field allows the note to be tagged with either: Complete, Ready for Review, In Process, and Needs Action status messages. Also provided is an Assign Note field which can be used to assign the note to a WordPress user account.
Lastly I’ve added a simple dashboard which displays the status of the private post notes, along with whom they are assigned to and an edit link for easy access.
What can it be used for?:
Any type of coordination with regard to a WordPress page or post. A few of my clients use this plugin to pass along requests for me to accomplish with regard to a page / post’s design or layout. My clients can easily upload any media into the new editor so that I have access to it, and I’m able to easily review what needs action directly from the dashboard.
I also have clients who use this plugin to coordinate with their authors and editors, requesting revisions to sections and keeping track of things like source material links or documents.
How can I use it?
This plugin is under development and hasn’t been released publicly, or for purchase. That having been said, I do make my plugins available to my clients for use and customization.
